I don’t know what the future holds for the courageous people of Iran as they to try to rid themselves of the brutal regime that’s been holding them hostage and beg the world for help, but I do know this. If you’re not speaking out on their behalf, if you’re ignoring their plight, stop claiming to care about all people.

If you prefer to pretend that the current talks between Trump and the Iranian regime will somehow help the Iranian people, you are misguided at best and ignorant at worst. All these talks will do is guarantee that Iranians will continue to live under the brutal oppression of the country’s Islamist leadership, caught in a never-ending nightmare of human rights abuses and religious extremism designed to keep them down.

If you don’t care that Iranian citizens will continue to get killed as long as your country doesn’t get involved…

If you’d rather stay out of it and not help them because you’re worried about the consequences of a possible war…

I call bullshit on your “humanitarianism”. Do you know what will probably happen if these “talks” break down and the US attacks Iran? Iran will target Israel. Not the US. Not Europe. Israel.

We Israelis are exhausted. We haven’t recovered from October 7th, the subsequent war with Hamas, the war with and attacks from both Iran and Hezbollah, the Houthis… The last thing we want or need is for Iran to start attacking us again.

But I’ll let you in on a little secret. While many Americans are whining about how a war with Iran will impact their lives (spoiler alert – hardly or not at all), Israelis are resolved to the fact that aside from the Iranian people, we will be the ones to bear the brunt of these actions. We are the ones who will be forced to run for shelter once again, praying that our defense systems can successfully take out Iranian missiles and counting our dead and combing through rubble if the systems fail.

But unlike so many privileged Americans and other Westerners who have never lived through a war, we recognize that it’s a price we are grudgingly and uncomfortably ready to pay if it means ridding the world of an Islamic regime that’s responsible for so much of the instability for Israel, throughout the Middle East, and around the world. We want to see our friends in Iran be free to live their lives to the fullest without fear.

A free Iran benefits us all – not just Iranians. Without the IRGC, financial support for Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and other terror groups crumbles. A free Iran can lead to a free Lebanon, a free Yemen, and possibly even a free Palestine. It can free Israel from the threat of existential war.

For those of you who are fond of the notion that none of us are free until all of us are free (a virtue-signaling phrase that makes me want to vomit, if truth be known), one of the most significant paths towards achieving that doesn’t run through Israel – it runs through Iran.

I don’t care if you “hate” war (here’s another spoiler alert: everybody hates war – some of us just don’t have the luxury of not having to fight them). If you can’t get behind the dirty work it’s going to take to actually free people… If you’re not willing to rock the boat because you might be inconvenienced…

I’m going to assume that you don’t actually want a better world for everyone, and you only want it for yourself. Your words are meaningless and your silence speaks volumes.
